Sher Tareen finished his undergrad degree at Harvard, where he played as a fast bowler/batsman, and enrolled at Florida State for his Master’s. He immediately announced his intention to American College Cricket Founder & President Lloyd Jodah, to start a cricket club. So it was the FSU Seminoles played their first cricket at the American College Cricket South Championship in Ft Lauderdale.

National Champion University of South Florida (USF Bulls) were also defending SE Champion, whilst Nationals Finalist Auburn made their usual 14 hour drive for a rematch of the ESPN broadcast last March. The Gators, Florida Tech, and Embry Riddle were the other teams.

Embry Riddle continued to set the highest standard for uniforms, with matching colored pads & helmets !

The traditional SEC rivalry between UF and Auburn did not paly out this time as they were in separate groups, and didn’t meet each other in the Final 4. Instead Auburn and USF faced off, and Sai Ramesh was in dominating mood, with imperious shots all over to score a century, before his rival Captain on the ESPN Nationals Finals Abhishek Kulkarni, eventually bowled him !

USF went on to defeat UF Gators to win the South East title, getting their 3rd title in their past 3 outings – a complete reversal of their previous habit of always making the Final 4 or Finals without winning.

MVP of the SE Championship was easily Sai Ramesh, who played under a new USF Captain, and scored a century and a Fifty.
