College Cricket Universities excel in College Football !

There are many things a University can do to try to get a top Football program: hire a great coach, recruit great players like Tim Tebow or Cam Newton, spend millions on facilities etc, or it could simply get a cricket team !  Yes, colleges that are members of American College Cricket generally did better than colleges without cricket teams this year in football.
American College Cricket schools won 159 games and only lost 94. 16 of our colleges had a winning season, only 4 had losing records and 1 had a 6-6 record.

Think its a mere coincidence that the # 2 ranked College Cricket team in the country, Auburn is # 1 in College Football ? The Auburn Tigers would have been playing another cricket powerhouse, Ohio State University for the BCS National Championship, had the OSU Buckeyes hadn’t lost their 1 game to the Wisconson Badgers !

Michigan State Spartans sole loss was to another American College Cricket school, the Iowa Hawkeyes, whilst the Unniversity of Pennsylvania was tops in the Ivy League, losing only 1 game.

In fact so many Big 10 schools have cricket clubs, that our Big 10 colleges have been playing each other & winning & losing to each other in football all season !

The cricket team at UCF was just started, but it has already given the school’s fooball a big boost, the UCF Knights football team started to make a name for itself, finishing with a 10-3 record.

At Boston University, the football program was surprisingly abandoned in 1993, but now, perhaps inspired by the Boston University Cricket Club, the “Boston Terriers” have revived football (unofficially) at BU & compete at the Club sport level (like cricket).

So College Administrators,to paraphrase President John F Kennedy: ask not what cricket can do for you, but what you can do for cricket – give your cricket club a cricket field & some funding to compete in the national Championship -the American College Cricket Spring Break Championship !
So the University of Florida and University of Miami are without coaches ? Don’t worry, Both the Gators and the Hurricanes now have cricket clubs so their football teams will be fine.
The empirical evidence is clear : Colleges with cricket clubs have winning football teams !
