All Stars Team for Aug 28 Sundar Memorial Event named !

In December 2008 one of the most important announcements in USA cricket history was made, when it was announced that there would be an American College Cricket Championship in March 2009. Appropriately the announcement was made on Facebook. 

August 28, 2010 another momentous announcement will be made that will thrill young cricket fans all over the USA and Canada, and even other parts of the world. American College Cricket VP Nino DiLoreto will be flying in from Florida for the event. Lloyd Jodah lives in NYC.

But first, on that Saturday an American College Cricket All Star team will play in the 18th Annual Sundar Memorial Event. The other 3 teams are drawn from the best Under 19 and other young players in NY,CT & NJ – including Andy Mohammed (TCI), Kaveshwar Bridgepaul, Shaan Mehta (GWU), Chad Munroe (UConn). The Sundar Event has been held every year by Ray Sundar to honor his late father, and it has been one of the most notable events on the NY cricket calendar each year.  

Last year the 2009 National Champions Montgomery College played against an American College Cricket All Stars XI .That night the Team were honored at the Bollywood Divas Nite Show featuring movie stars from India, Koena Mitra, Tanushree Dutta, Preeti Jhiangiani, Rakhi Sawant and Mahalakhsmi Iyer. This was the first time in American Cricket that cricket and Bollywood had come together.

The appearances of Ankit Sehgal and Hashim Khan are conditional, because if their League team continues in the Playoffs they will play in a League playoff game that day.
 
The team is Captained by the remarkable Adil Bhatti – American’s first cricket star in over 100 years. In the past year Adil Bhatti has been interviewed for a Front page story of the Washington Post and also by the New York Times, Voice of America News, Sun Sentinel and his college and local media.Bhatti and his team received a Proclamation from the Montgomery County Council and accolades from his school Montgomery College. Their,and American College Cricket’s story have appeared in countless Indian media, on Pakistan and Afghanistan TV as well as various American and International cricket media. 

Bhatti was also selected as the Captain of the College Cricket All America 1st Team and declared 2009 College Cricketer of the Year and has been to a local elementary school to teach cricket. 

Adrian Gordon (NYU-Poly) is one of the fastest bowlers in the USA. Romel Somanat (Buckeyes) will be flying in from Ohio whilst Regis Burton (SUNY) will make the trip from Antigua. Gavish Sharma (UPenn) is coming from PA.
