In 1844 Canada played the USA in a cricket match in New York -thousands of spectators watched ! This was the first time ever that 2 countries faced each other, not on a battle field, but a playing field.

It was an epochal moment in World History and began the International sports scene that has led to the modern Olympics, Soccer & Cricket World Cups.

It taught mankind that we can let out our patriotic aggressions on a playing field, without resorting to wars.
