Ravin Moorthy announces Canada to play in Caribbean T20 & WCL Div 1
Cricket Canada is pleased to announce that the Men’s team will participate in the Caribbean T20 tournament to be held July 22nd to July 31st in Barbados and Trinidad. The 8 team event will be held in both countries with the West Indies regional teams Barbados, Combined Campuses and Colleges, Guyana, Jamaica, Leeward Islands, Trinidad and Tobago and Windward Islands.
Ravin Moorthy, Cricket Canada’s First Vice President, who is also on the Advisory Board of American College Cricket, was excited for Cricket Canada supporters saying “…fans across Canada are anxiously anticipating this event and hundreds are expected to flock to the Caribbean to watch in action… Twenty20 Cricket has taken the world by storm and Canada playing with some of the best including last years champions from Trinidad and Tobago. The world’s biggest T20 stars including Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard will taking the field against Rizwan Cheema and the rest of the Canadian stars…This is a great moment for Canadian cricket and something we should all embrace”
WCL 1 – Canada heads to The Netherlands
Ashish Bagai will return to the helm of the national cricket team as Canada will look to continue their winning ways at the World Cricket League Division 1 Tournament in the Netherlands.
Camp opens in Toronto on June 21st before the team heads to the The Netherlands for the first match against the Netherlands.
Canada is seeded 2nd in the tournament heading in based on the team’s outstanding performance at the 2009 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2009
(1-Ireland, 2-Canada, 3-Netherlands, 4-Kenya, 5-Afghanistan, 6-Scotland.)
