Author & Historian, P. David Sentance on ACC Advisory Board

 
Author and Cricket Historian –  Cricket in America 1710-2000. 
 
David Sentence’s book was published in 2006 after eight years of research. Sentance evaluated successful cricket practices in the United States. David travelled to the 2010 American College Cricket Championship because he said he “wanted to see history in the making”.
 
David’s book “Cricket in America 1710-2000” was selected for the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
 
Graduating again from UCLA in 1977, he played cricket for University CC, a member of the Southern California Cricket Association, and subsequently for SCCA teams, Britamer (8 years) and Victoria Cricket Club (15 years).
 
Sentance founded and coached the world’s first homeless cricket team, the Los Angeles Krickets with homeless advocate Ted Hayes in 1995. In England, he captained the LA Krickets to a winning record, garnering American TV coverage on local sports channels while Ted Hayes was invited to Buckingham Palace.
 
In 1996 as SCCA Treasurer, David raised funds for America’s first schools coaching program since1926. The program was introduced in Los Angeles by Sir Richard Hadlee and headed by former Glamorgan CCC captain, Malcolm Nash.
 
In 2008 he founded the US Women’s Cricket Association with former women’s Indian cricket captain Durga Das and has been a US Women’s team selector. Sentance currently coordinates southern California US women’s coaching, in anticipation of the US national trials to be held in Cupertino in June 2010
 
Appointed cricket historian for the SCCA on the strength of his book Cricket in America 1710-2000.
 
A keen cricket tourist, Sentance has played on five continents as a member of the Hollywood Golden Oldies, including a  2007 trip to China, the first by a visiting US club side..
 
David was born in England, and went to school and played cricket in Kenya, England, Ireland, Scotland before moving to the USA..
