Never Forget Sept 11 – Nezam Hafiz, USA Player, all the Heros and Victims.

NizamNezam Hafiz was a USA player & First Class cricketer killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks on America. He was 32 years old. We inducted him into the American College Cricket Hall of Fame in 2014.

Nezam Hafiz captained the Guyana U19 team in 1988, vs a T & T team captained by Brian Lara.He was a right-handed batsman and a medium pace bowler. He then scored 116 vs the Leeward Islands and the following season made his First Class debut, playing 6 matches before immigrating to America in 1992. He was later one of the top players on a USA team tour of England, scoring 267 runs,including three 50’s, at an average of 44.50 with a personal highest of 62. He subsequently became the vice-captain for a USA tour to Canada.

Nizam worked on the 94th Flr of Tower 1. His name is one of the 2,983 names inscribed at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center site, it can be found on Panel N-6 of the North Pool.

Today we honor all the victims of the terrorist attacks in NYC, the Pentagon and the plane that went down in Pennsylvania. ALL the men that went UP into the Towers as people went down, trying to get out – those men never made it out. The Firemen, Police and EMS – and everyone who helped in the hours and days after.
