MIT finished this year’s American College Cricket Home/Away League this past weekend with Home game wins against BU and Northeastern Alumni. (written by Muhammad Jehangir Khan, MIT). Winner of season to be announced officially in 2 weeks. MIT played 16 matches , winning 12 & losing 4 plus they played in the North East C’ship.

1. The game on Saturday vs BU was a very exciting low-scoring contest with MIT managing a below-par score of 117 all-out with plenty of overs left. In short, a pretty ordinary batting display after a decent start provided by Leopold Beuken. It required a crucial middle-overs mini-rescue by Keshav Gupta and Jehangir Amjad to ensure the team crossed a 100. However, bowling is our strength and we ended up defending the score and beat BU by 14 runs. Our fielding was the key with all catches held and superb ground-fielding with Saad Shoukat, marking his return in MIT-colors, managing to clinch the win with a direct hit! Jehangir’s four wickets were key, while both Moiz Imam and Usman Ayyaz were great upfront with two wickets each. 2. Sunday’s second game vs Northeastern Alumni was played in some extreme weather with bitter cold and wind. However, MIT was in a dominant form with Akshat Agarwal’s blistering 81*(51) once again the bedrock. Leopold Beuken playing his final game for MIT and scored a brisk 48 (37) at the top to lay a solid foundation. A total of 201 was always going to be challenging but MIT’s bowling came up trumps and we bowled out the opposition inside 18 overs having made 130. Usman Ayyaz, Saad Shoukat and Koustuban Ravi all sharing two wickets each and Murthy Arelekatti, Vaikkunth Mugunthan claiming one wicket each.
