NJIT wins vs UMD to take the Mid Atlantic Championship !

The weather was gorgeous, even though, unlike previous years, the foliage had not yet changed to provide a glorious exposition of Fall colors.
The British Officer’s Cricket Club was meticulously prepared as usual by Ernie Precious, and the other 2 fields were good too.

10 college teams : 2015 Champion Drexel U, Virginia Tech U, Carnegie Mellon U, George Washington U, U of Pennsylvania, West Virginia U, NJIT, Penn State U, UM College Park, Temple U.

A number of teams had lost their top stars to graduation, leaving room for new performers. 2015 Champion Drexel was without Captain & batsman Maaez Veqar, who had decided to pursue professional cricket in Pakistan. UMD had also seen the graduation of some of their key players, but former Captain Razi Khan came back to play in the Semis & Finals. He decided to pursue his PhD in order to continue playing in American College Cricket !

After Group play the Final 4 came down to NJIT vs Carnegie Mellon and Virginia Tech vs University of Maryland. The winners, NJIT & Maryland then faced off in the Finals and NJIT became the Cahmpion of the Mid Atlantic !
