Former India u19 inducted in Hall of Fame
Saurabh Netravalkar played for in the 2010 u19 World Cup & was a star of the tournament. Returning to India he finished his Bachelor’s degree before prusuing a professional cricket career, playing for Mumbai. Fast bowlers in India at that time had it tough, and when Saurabh got accepted into Cornell University in USA he had a tough choice to make, but he chose his education.
Lanbding in USA he didn’t expect to paly cricket, but soon was palying American College Cricket, standing out in the eyes of American College Cricket President Lloyd Jodah. Saurabh was selected for the American College Cricket North East All Stars for a Series in NY, then for the American College Cricket USA All Stars Series in California.
For the next Series Saurabh was made Captain, setting him up to do the same for USA eventually, and led the team to a 3-0 win vs Canadian College Cricket. The next time he was to lead the AllStars was his graduation so he had to miss that one, but then was named Captain again for the Series in Orlando. By then he had met the Residency requirement and was selected for the USA team to play in the Caribbean Super 50.
Within 6 months he was made Captain, and soon led USA to ODI status, and eligible to possibly be in the next ODI World Cup.
Saurabh’s accomplishments in Indian cricket, his talent, work ethic and humbleness ensured his success, but it was clearly his play in American College Cricket that set him on the road being one of the most notable cricketers in America since John Bart King. He truly deserves being in the American College Cricket Hall of Fame.
