GWU wins our 1st game back, US Marine Husnain smashes 145 !
Thanks to GWU Club President Aakash Gedela American College Cricket had its 1st game since the Lockdown began March 2020, and George Washington U came away with a win vs Haverford College.
The game was a onetime 30 over match (we only usually play T20s) to help get play going again, and the host was Haverford College, itself a major part of US cricket history, on their venerable Cope Field. GWU made 290 for 7 of which US Marine Husnain Bashir, a past College Player of the Year & All Star made 145 run out. His Strike Rate was 196, off 74 balls with 8 fours and 13 sixes including one that hit the Haverford College President’s house ! Next highest score was Extras with 60 but Aakash Gedela made 30 in a 109 run partnership with Husnain. Ahilan Amirthanayagam made 20*. Husnain made his 145 out of 234 runs.
Gedela took 2 wickets for 12 runs and Zunair Saleem 3 for 27 as Haverford made 133 all out.
