USF wins 3rd straight South East Title, defeating Auburn again !

SOUTH EAST SEMI FINAL 2 – EVEREST University vs AUBURN
2 tight penetrating spells by Auburn top bowler Abhishek Kulkarni (3 for 17) shocked Everest early , then Govindaraju followed with 3 for 7 and Everest struggled, except for Meetul Patel who smashed 3 fours and 2 sixes in his 17 ball 32 ! However Everest ended on 111 all out in 18 overs.
Consistent scoring by the Auburn batsmen kept the Tigers within range and with 9 balls left they needed 5 runs when their 5th wicket fell. The batsmen crossed so Kulkarni got on strike and decided to end the suspense by hitting 2 sixes as Auburn won, to get into the South East Finals to meet National & South East Champion USF Bulls !
Kulkarni (Auburn) got the MVP nod !

Playing vs USF, your dilemma as an opposing Captain starts at the Toss – as the Bulls can chase as well as they set a high target. The reason to bat first against USF is that your team is not facing a high target to become discouraged. However Auburn chose to bowl.
A run rate of 10 for the 1st wicket alerted Auburn to their error as Naseer Khan 69 in 42 balls with 4 fours and 6 sixes, and Vignesh Rg 57 in 40 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes put on 123 in 12.4 overs when Vignesh was run out. Vijay came in and picked up Naseer’s habit of hitting the ball over the boundary, garnering 5 sixes plus 2 fours in his 45*..
ABD Sheik smashed 2 sixes to be 13* as USF made 191 for 2, a run rate of 10.91.
Kulkarni was in the runs again for Auburn, 34 in 21 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Govindaraju 21, and Selvarj 20, were the othe main contributers but the Bulls kept them to just over half the run rate needed. USF’s bowling was remarkable, they bowled each over in 3 minutes, putting the batsmen under tremendous pressure ! All this whilst giving everybody but the ‘keeper a bowl ! Naseer Khan took 2 for 8 and Vijay took 2 for 10. USF once again was wall Auburn could not get past.
Naseer Khan was the MVP as USF retained their South East title in a remarkable display of cricket.
