“We hosted the first Fantasy Cricket Game in college cricket last year with Dream11. Fantasy sports is fun, and plays a huge role in building an audience for a sport, and keeping it engaged. It adds to the buzz, and can highlight our star performers. We are really pleased Dream11 is taking this next step with us,” stated Lloyd Jodah, Founder & President of American College Cricket.

USA vs Canada for the Dream11 1844 Jodah Trophy
1844 Sept – in a field at what is now 34th St & 2nd Ave in Manhattan NY an amazing event took place, that was to have world changing consequences of a magnitude no one foresaw. Teams representing the relatively young countries of the United States of America and Canada took the field at St George’s Cricket Club in Bloomingdale Park to play a cricket match. About 20,000 spectators (probably the equivalent of half million today) watched the game.

After thousands of years of fighting, wars and empire building It was the first time in history that 2 countries would do battle against each other on a playing field, instead of a battle field. At the end there would be a winning country, and a losing country but no blood would be shed, no one would die. Men would find a peaceful way to express their testosterone-laden aggression, competitiveness and desire to do battle – a peaceful way to go to “war”.
Almost no one pays any attention to this 1844 Cricket match but it was the beginning of a new world, the beginning of international sports, and its impact on mankind can not be overestimated.

Conducted in association with Canadian College Cricket & the Toronto District Cricket Association, the matches will be played at a King City turf field just outside Toronto for the 1844 Jodah Trophy. King City has hosted International teams including Pakistan, Sri Lanka, West Indies, USA & Afghanistan.

The Trophy, and the Series also recognizes the tremendous contribution the Jodah family has made to cricket since the 1960’s, providing a base at 126 Regent Rd for many cricketers in the West Indies to go on in their careers. Two made centuries on their Test debut, all time great Alvin Kallicaharran & Len Baichan and Current great Shiv Chanderpaul holds many West Indies & World records.Countless other Guyana First Class cricketers benefited from the Jodahs’ generosity in the early years of their careers, and Ramnaresh Sarwan & Carl Hooper were associated with the family as well.
