Chanderpaul is Jamaica Tallawahs new Head Coach !
Former West Indies superstar Shivnarine Chanderpaul, & American College Cricket Patron & Honorary Head Coach has been appointed Jamaica Tallawahs new Head Coach. The 47-year-old left-handed batsman, who has played 164 Tests, 268 ODIs and 22 T20ls, scoring a total of 20,988 runs for the West Indies, will take charge of team for the 2022 Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
“Shivnarine has had an illustrious playing career and is one of the greats of the game. He has served West Indies cricket with distinction, and I know that he will take the Tallawahs to new heights,” said Krishna Persaud, owner of the Jamaica Tallawahs.
“It’s an absolute honour to be appointed as the new Head Coach of the Jamaica Tallawahs and I am really looking forward to working with the players and support staff to bring another championship to Jamaica,” Shiv Chanderpaul said.
“We are excited and welcome Chanderpaul, Sir Curtly and Coley to the Tallawahs family,” stated Jeff Miller, General Manager of the Tallawahs.
All time great fast bowler Curtly Ambrose will be the Bowling Coach and Andre Coley will be Assistant Coach. Coincidentally Coley was Head of the High Performance Center in 2011 when UWI sent a team to the 2011 American College Cricket National Championship.
Chanderpaul has been a supporter of American College Cricket since the beginning and made a few appearances for American College Cricket, including at the 2017 National Championship when he did commentary on SONY, demonstrating his vast knowledge of the game’s intricacies, and presenting the Trophies. The American College Cricket MVP has trained with the Jamaica Tallawahs in Jamaica, a program interrupted by the Lock Downs.
