Many of us working folk would like to play cricket now and again, but don’t want the regimen of playing an adult league. Then there are students, college and High school who may want something similar. We have just the thing for you if you live, work or interning in NYC !

Former President of Harvard Cricket Club, Ibrahim Khan, who now works in New York started a Tape Ball Summer League named ‘Raise the Bat’, which plays on Friday evenings, mainly in July and August, from 5 to 9pm. There is a fee to register, but HIGH SCHOOL students and COLLEGE students are FREE.

American College Cricket President Lloyd Jodah said, “It’s no surprise that Ibrahim would start an initiative like this, he was an extremely strong leader for Harvard Cricket Club. I’ve always wanted someone to do something like this, and toyed with the idea, even discussed it with Jamie Paul Lloyd, so when Ibrahim reached out to me, I was happy to give my support. This comes on the heels of another of our alums, Suyash Bhagwat, starting ‘Cric4Youth’ which collects donated equipment and distributes them to youth. The inaugural donation of 11 bats was made to the NYC High School League.”

The aim of the league is “to promote mentorship and the game of cricket. We connect school-going students from NYC with adults who live in the city for a summer tape-ball cricket league. Through the relationships built over the course of the league matches, we hope the junior and senior members of each team can remain connected beyond the league itself.”
