U of Houston Wins South West Championship. South Alabama 2nd.
The American College Cricket South West Championship returned to Moosa Stadium for the 4th time, a welcome sight as the Stadium had been temporarily closed. A pioneering effort by Sakhi Muhammad, investing millions of his money – a first in USA cricket where too much of the ‘cricket community’ had a ‘welfare mentality’ instead of bringing the American way of Free Enterprise to the game. In this regard, American College Cricket President Lloyd Jodah and Sakhi Muhammad were kindred souls, doing and motivating others to do, for the game.
In fact more American College Cricket will be played at the Stadium going forward, and the plan is to install Livestreaming equipment at the Stadium permanently. Another result of the weekend was that, Sakhi Muhammad who has been a supporter of American College Cricket, was added to the Advisory Board.
Sunshine on the weekend made for pleasant conditions for cricket but lots of rain during the week left the outfield, beautiful as it looked, soggy and runs were hard to come by. A brand new Flicx pitch was used, but conditions strongly favored the bowlers because of the softness underneath. The bowlers got lots of movement in the air, and off the wicket and with a camera directly down the line of the wicket from the top of a sightscreen viewers could see the movement well.
