Boston U vs MIT – Fall Season Opener Home and Away.
Yesterday marked the 2018 season home opener for your BU Terriers, it was a hard fought match against the MIT Engineers with your Terriers coming up a bit short, losing by 17 runs.
Captain Ashrey Rajgarhia won the toss and elected to field under what were overcast conditions. Our veteran, now turn grad student, Rahul Srivatsa and Faiz Parvaz opened the bowling with two solid overs each. Tegveer Ghura then came in with a breakthrough on the first ball of his spell getting MIT’s main man Usman Ayyaz caught behind. Later came in new BU seam bowler Aman Bhargava taking 2 wickets along with Vedant Agarwal’s 3 wickets and Maaz Elahi’s 1. BU managed to capture all ten wickets with Rahul coming back to complete his spell in the final over of the innings. Those who came out to watch were in for a treat thanks to Caen Healy fantastic keeping behind the stumps, taking 2 complete blinders of his 3 total catches. MIT 150/10 (Vaikkunth M. 26(25), Jehangir A. 24(15), Vedant A. 4.0-0-20-3, Rahul S. 3.3-0-22-2)
BU sent their two trusted openers Rahul and Tegveer to open the batting, however the partnership was short-lived and ended at 25/1 due to some great MIT opening bowling. From there on, the batting as an entire unit declined with the exception of Vedant Agarwal’s stable 43 of 30. BU 142/10 (Vedant A. 43(30), Rahul S. 17(16), Usman A. 4.0-0-31-3, Keshav G. 4.0-25-3)
Although the result did not turn out as we hoped, this match helped many of our guys shake the rust off, and be ready for the matches ahead. The Terriers cannot wait to bounce back next week and are thankful for all your support!
