Ft Lauderdale, Miami, South Beach, Key West, South Florida generally is amazing to visit. Add to all that, the ‘Biggest Party in Sport’ the Hero Caribbean Premiere League, CPL, and it’s a great trip for anyone, especially a cricket fan. This year, as part of their quest to win a 3rd CPL Championship, the Jamaica Tallawahs hosts 3 matches on AUG 18, 19 and 22nd at Central Broward Regional Park in Ft Lauderdale, Florida. The same stadium where India played West Indies 2 years ago, and drew crowds of thousands from all over USA and Canada.
The Tallawahs team is owned by South Florida businessman Kris Persaud, originally from Guyana. American College Cricket President Lloyd Jodah is assisting in managing the events.
It’s an exciting convergence of fun, travel and partying with food, drinks, cheerleaders, pre and post-match entertainment, masquerades and party favors. A fun time for anyone, and especially for cricket fans who get the chance to support the first event hosted by a professional cricket Franchise in USA. The Warriors team includes stars like Sohail Tanvir, Shoaib Malik, Devendra Bishoo, Jason Mohammed, Rayad Emrit, Luke Ronchi, Imran Tahir. A new addition is former Indian under 19 World Cup and American College Cricket pace bowler Saurabh Netravalkar. Netravalkar is known for his tight control and swing and will be a bowler to watch in the CPL this year.
The Trinbago Knight Riders are a very strong team – Sunil Narine, Chris Lynn, Brendan McCullum, Darren Bravo, Dinesh Ramdin are some of their big performers.
The Barbados Tridents have Martin Guptil, Shakib al Hassan, Hashim Amla, Dwayne Smith, Nicholas Pooran, Wahab Riaz, Shai Hope among their big names.
The Tallawahs are led by T20 superman Andre Russell the dynamo who led the Tallawahs to their first CPL title, this year he was a stand out player for Kolkota Knight Riders in the IPL with 316 runs and 13 wickets, and just this past weekend his team Vancouver Knights won the inaugural Canadian Global T20. The iconic Shahid Afridi will play his first cricket in USA, and his lethal leg spin has given him the most T20 International wickets, 98 in 99 matches, of all players whilst his hard hitting batting is a thrill for fans. New Zealand’s Ross Taylor’s free flowing batting and strong hitting has won him fans all over the world. Florida-born Steven Taylor at his best is a Chris Gayle type striker of the ball and USA bowler Elmore Hutchinson, David Miller, Samuel Badree, Imad Wasim are also on the team.
