Houston : We Have a Solution – Amir Saddiqui !
We’d like to congratulate Amir Saddiqui on his latest new role – this past weekend he was elected Secretary of the Houston Cricket League !
American College Cricket players know Amir as a Manager, and assistant to Lloyd Jodah, American College Cricket President at the National, & South East Championships since 2011. He seems tireless, but he’s just a man who is devoted to cricket, and believes in American College Cricket. March 2011 the National Championship set a World Record by having 67 matches in 5 days, and in subsequent National Championships each has been over 50 matches in 5 days. Amir has been an important part of the Management team each time.
Amir credits American College Cricket with
“giving me opportunities to use and learn a wide range of skills. I never thought I would work on TV productions of cricket but I did so on our TV Asia & ESPN broadcasts.
Working on our National Championships which had over 50 & over 60 games in 5 days make any other assignment seem easy. Working with over 400 very intelligent college students each time kept me on my toes. Its been fascinating learning from Mr Lloyd’s attention to detail, everything from Facebook promotion to players’ uniforms.
Thanks to Mr Lloyd I’ve seen first hand what cricket can accomplish in America.”
Amir has performed a wide range of duties, and is always learning – at the 2014 Nationals he began taking action photographs, under the tutelage of Lloyd and he’s already putting this new skill to use in Houston !
Now living in Houston, Amir has wide ranging responsibilities at the new Smart Choice Moosa Cricket Stadium -which is now designated as an American College Cricket Home field. Among his responsibilities are the Youth and Under 19 programs. He is currently planning a Double Wicket competition for March 2015 and a lot more exciting projects to be announced.
“I feel fortunate to work with Sahki Muhammad and Smart Choice, at the Stadium – its like a dream, a wonderful cricket dream I get to share with my family.” Amir said.
Together with Sakhi Muhammad who was elected President we believe they will do wonderful things for the League, its teams & players, andbuild upon the good work of previous Presidents like Nanda Kumar.
Interesting facts : Amir actually represented Pakistan in Baseball, and came to America to play baseball – but he’s a Certified Coach in cricket and a very good player !
Amir will be in Ft Lauderdale for the American College Cricket National Championship.
