Last week was the exciting American College Cricket semi finals on TV Asia : USF vs York University, now get ready for more action !
With a tremendous unbeaten streak of 11 matches the Texas A & M Aggies Cricket Club came into the final four carrying their # 1 rank. Boasting a strong batting line up that included left hand stroke player Anurag Verma, and captain Hamza Mohammed, and Mehta, the Aggies were without batsman and pacer Ochert Greyvenstein who was one of their top players last year and at the recent South West regional.
Nevertheless with tall Soorianarayanan, Venkat Ravishankar, Wasif Khan and Kothalkar their bowling was strong. In 2011 the team maximized its effort by returning to school and getting a cricket field.
Having reached the Finals of the National Championship in 2010 as a new team, York College struggled to field a team in 2011 but returned strong to the Mid Atlantic regional and took that title late in the year.
American College Cricket & TV Asia created history in Oct 2011 by being the first to televise domestic cricket in USA & Canada, and York College played in 2 of those games, thereby giving the Cardinals valuable experience for the pressure of competing on TV, in the semis of the National Championship.
Boasting some of the best players in the New York area, in like Karan Ganesh, York College was led by Abbas Khizer.
The two teams will do battle on TV Asia at 7 pm Saturday,March 31 at the CBRP Cricket Stadium in Ft Lauderdale Florida.
