Video – Don Bradman: the greatest athlete ever in any sport ?
Sir Donald Bradman was born August 27, 1908. As a 10 year old beginning Queen’s College I loved the school library, and it was there I found Don Bradman’s autobiography, and another biography of him.
The Don is, statistically, the greatest athlete ever to play ANY sport.
He dominated his peers like noone else has in any sport, not because of greater height (like Wilt Chamberlain) or size, but simply his skill.
The American cartoon character Donald Duck was named after Donald Bradman, after he had scored a rare “duck” !
His career average of 99.94 has even now been “corrected” to 100, after researchers claim to have found 4 runs that had not been credited to him !
Remember too, batsmen did not have the protective equipment batsmen now have, and which make every fast bowler, so much easier to play.
