<p>George Washington University vs Cleveland State U</p>
<div>It was a hard fought game, GWU batted first and opener Vivek Hadkar 31 (3 fours) got them to a good start. Coming at # 5 Ashutosh blasted 48 (4 fours &amp; 3 sixes) to take them to 141 in 20 overs.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Bowling for Cleveland State Pawan took 3 early wickets for 27 runs, but Ashutosh powered GWU&#8217;s recovery.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Cleveland State struggled, with only Abhilash of the early batsmen hitting 24 (3 fours) until Dhaval came to the rescue, smashing 6 fours &amp; 2 sixes in a fantastic 53*. He hit the ball in the gaps to take over the game and win it for Cleveland State.</div>
<div>-</div>
<div>Carnegie Mellon vs Texas Tech</div>
<div> </div>
<div>One of the first teams in American College Cricket, Carnegie Mellon returned to their 2nd American College Cricket National Cahmpionship. Two players, freshmen in 2009, returned as seniors, Sahil Jolly and Aayush.</div>
<div>Carnegie batted first, and put up a good total of 159 for 7. Naveen hit 53 (4 sixes, 4 fours)  whilst Pratiq made 17. </div>
<div>Texas Tech never were out of the game, tough as the task was, and made 141. Raghav opened and made 37 (4 fours), Niihal Shah 27.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>So Carnegie Mellon had returned to the sidefields of the Central Broward Regional Park, where it all started back in 2009.</div>
<div>-</div>
<div>Texas A &amp; M vs Penn State</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The Aggies won the toss and sent Penn state in to bat. Currently ranked at # 1, Texas A &amp; M was eager to continue their unbeaten streak in American College Cricket.     </div>
<div> </div>
<div>However they were withut their top fast bowler Ockert Greyvenstein. Nevertheless, the Penn State batting struggled and made 83. Wasif took 3 wickets for 4 runs in 3 overs. Sudhakar 2 wickets for 19 in 4 overs.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>A good opening partnership by Texas A &amp; M openers, captain Hamza 23 (2 fours) and Anurag 32 (3 fours) set up the win for the Aggies. Left hander Anurag had been their top opener at the South West regional. Venkatesh 22 (2 fours &amp; 1 six) took Texas A &amp; M home for the win.</div>
<div>-</div>
<div>AUBURN UNIVERSTY vs U of HOUSTON CLEARLAKE</div>
<div> </div>
<div>2010 South East Champion Auburn were restricted to 106 for 8 wickets against UHCL. Pramod topscoring with 30 (2 fours) whilst captain Naveen Thiaragrajan made 21 (2 fours). Varun ended on 20* (1 six).  </div>
<div> </div>
<div>Despite losing 2 of their top bowlers to graduation, Rahul Potghan and Ahmed Faraz, Auburn held the Clearlake batsmen and it took a captain&#8217;s knock by Prashant Manne of 57* (6 fours &amp; 2 sixes) to get an excitingly close win for Houston Clearlake Blue Herons.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The win came after 19.3 overs.</div>

<div> </div>
<div>Vivek Kotadia attended and played for Cleveland State in last semester&#8217;s Midwest Championship, then this semester transfered to UH Clearlake to continue his software studies. </div>
<div> </div>
<div>He immediately asked me if he could start a team there, and within a month the UH Clearlake Blue Herons were competing in the Southwest regionals !</div>
<div> </div>
<div>They looked strong, giving Texas A &amp; M their toughest game, and was invited to the Spring Break Championship, and again Vivek&#8217;s organisational skills ensured the team&#8217;s participation. </div>
<div>Their top allrounder Srikant Gutlapalli scored 48 runs, and took 4 wicket. He doubles as the team Coach (being a Coach is one of his career goals.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Vivek and the Club &#8220;made a presentation to Mr Andrew, SLO head, who promised us that the Registration Fee would be funded by the Unniversity, and he also promised his help in gathering more funds.&#8221;</div>

<div>Anurag Verma 44, 67,54 ; Venkatesh Ravishankar 58,29,39 ; Hamza 32,27, and Ochert Greyvenstein 54*, and Angadh 41 .</div>

<div> </div>
<div><strong><em>TEXAS TECH RAIDERS vs TEXAS A &amp; M AGGIES</em></strong></div>
<div> </div>
<div>Numer 9 and # 10 ranked Texas A &amp; M Aggies and Texas Tech Raiders took the field Sunday morning knowing the winner would play the Finals of the first South West Championship, in College Station Aggies Captain Hamza, and left handed strokeplayer Anuragh put on 66 for the opening partnership before Hamza ws caught off Satyyam for 32, made in 27 balls (3 fours 2 sixes).</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Anurag played some delightful shots before getting run out for 44, in 29 balls (4 fours 1 six). Venkatesh and Ochert Greyvenstein continued the Aggies onslaught.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Venkatesh struck 58  in 27 balls (6 fours 2 sixes), Greyvenstein 54* in 21 balls with a barrage of 5 sixes and 3 fours, including a 6 off the last ball ! The Aggies amassed 208 in their 20 overs !</div>

<div>As if the task was not tough enough, Hamza proved practically unplayable and took 4 Raiders&#8217; wickets for 15 runs. Sunny and Wasif took 2 each..</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Raghav put up a fight, scoring 32 in 14 balls (5 fours 1 six) and Avinash made 19 (2 fours) before Texas Tech fell for 114 all out. TAMU earning the win by 94 runs.</div>
<div> </div>
<div><em><strong>WEST TEXAS A &amp; M BUFFS vs HOUSTON COUGARS</strong></em></div>
<div> </div>
<div>The West Texas A &amp; M University Buffs team was very new and inexperienced but they drove 10 hours for the opportunity to play in the South Westregionals. WTAMU Dean and Professor E W Henderson even came to watch the game and support the team.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Batting first the Buffs found it tough going against the excellent bowling attck of the UHouston Cougars,4 of whose bowlers took 2 wickets each: Ankit Mehta 2 for 6,Nabeel 2 for 14,Ryan Corns 2 for 9, Ahsan 2 for 17.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>For WTAMU Buffs Shravan made 22 in 7 balls (2 fours) before getting stumped.Rahil made 21 in 23 balls ( 1 four 1 six). At the end Manoj struck a 6 amd finished on 11 runs.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Ryan Corns smashed 47* in 18 balls (5 fours 3 sixes). His opening partner Ahmed made 39 in 19 (6 fours 1 six) to make short work of the 100 runs needed to win, and the University of Houston Cougars advanced to the Finals to meet the waiting Texas A &amp; M Aggies !</div>
<div> </div>
<div><em><strong>FINALS : AGGIES vs COUGARS</strong></em></div>
<div> </div>
<div>The Aggies batted first and once again Hamza and Anurag got them off to a good start, putting on 54 before Hamza was caught by Corns off Nabeel for 27 in 14 ( 1 four 2 sixes). Venkatesh then followed up his 59 earlier in the day with 29 in 21 (3 fours) as he and Anurag put on 58.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>With the score on 150 Anuragh went for 67 in 45 balls (10 fours). Angadh struck a quick 41 in 21 balls (3 fours 2 sixes) as the Aggies amassed 207 to follow up their 208 against Texas Tech !</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Cougars Captain Shuja was confident his strong batting lineup could get the total, and whhilst Ryan Corns and Ankit Mehta were at the wicket it looked possible. But Corns swept and was caught brilliantly by Ankush for 23 (3 fours) and Venkatesh bowled Mehta for 19 (3 fours).</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Only Atiq low in the order showed resistance, striking 3 sixes in his 23 as the University of Houston Cougars team crumbled for 105, and the Texas A &amp; M Aggies were the first South West regional Champions !</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Bowling for the Aggies Greyvenstein showed pace and movement and took a wicket, Wasif took 2 for 25, Hamza wrapped up the tail with 2 for 10, whilst Ankush and Venkatesh took a wicket each.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The Aggies now get set to travel to Florida where they will be one of the favorites to win the national title in March, at the American College Cricket Spring Break Championship &#8211; to be seen on TV Asia.</div>

<div> UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON CLEARLAKE vs  TEXAS A &amp; M AGGIES</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Texas A &amp; M,the hosts were playing against new team University of Houston Clearlake, which had not yet played a game together. A reasonable opening partnership by Hamza (9) and Anurag of 23 runs was followed by 55 between Anurag 54 in 24 balls (9 fours 2 sixes) and Venkatesh 39 in 24 balls (3 fours 1 six) .</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Another good partnership of 38 between Venkatesh and all rounder Ochert Greyvenstein (14), plus Siddarth&#8217;s 12 took the Aggies to 156 all out.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Spinner SrIkant wrecked the lower middle order taking 4 wickets for 11 runs, whilst the Clearlake guys showed flashes of brilliant fielding despite their cold fingers.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>SrIkant then opened the batting with VKC, and had the Tamu Aggies worried at 88 without loss, albeit a slow start. Then Venkatesh struck getting Sreekant caught by Ankush for 48 (2 fours,2 sixes) in 45 balls. Then followed a collapse mainly due to 2 run outs. VKC scored 47 in 28 balls (4 fours, 1 six).</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Clearlake made 129 for 9 in their 20 oversthe Aggies getting the win by 27 runs.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>TEXAS TECH RAIDERS vs WEST TEXAS A &amp; M BUFFS</div>
<div> </div>
<div>J Sandhu cracked the 2nd 50 of the day when he made 59 in 42 balls (4 fours 2 sixes) for the Radiers. He put on 47 with Reddy 26 (2 fours 2 sixes) then 70 with Raiders club President Nihal Shah, who made 30 in 18 balls (2 fours 2 sixes). When Sandhu was bowled by Manoj the Raiders were well set at 146 for 4 in the 15th over. They got to 185 for 9 in 20 with Prabeen getting 2 wickets for 39 runs.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The Buffs had driven 10 hours to get to College Station to play in their first competition, and made 77 in response.Saizad got 18 (2 fours), and Shravan 15 (3 fours). J Sandhu wrapped up the tail getting 3 wickets for 17 runs.Mishra took 2 for 4, Gana 2 for 15.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Texas Tech Raiders won. </div>
<div> </div>
<div> UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON COUGARS vs  UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON CLEARLAKE</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The Houston Cougars had looked very strong at the 2011 American College Cricket Spring Break Championship so with the addition of USA player and 2010 Under 19 World Cup star Ryan Corns they were a severe challenge for the team newly put together by Vivek Kotadia at Houston Clearlake.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Nevertheless the Clearlake guys led by Hamza took it to the Cougars and only 2 batsmen got to double figues for the Cougars. Coming at #3 Ankit Mehta, one of the top batsmen,in the Houston area pulled every errant delivery by the Clearlake bowlers, and even good ones for 4s and 6s, smashing 89* in 39 balls 6 fours 8 sixes).</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Opening, Ryan Corns made 37 in 17 balls (5 fours 2 sixes) and played his stylish leaning hook a number of times. Cougars made 154 in 15 overs (the game was reduced) . Shastri bowled his 2 victims and ended with 2 for 16. VKC too 2 for 43.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Clearlake was determinded to give the tough total a go, but the Cougars spin attack was mystifying, Ryan Corns getting 2 wickets for 11, Abbasi 2 wickets for 8. Pacer Haris took 2 for 10.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Clearlake pacer Srikant used his feet well to the spinners, played some delightful shots and made 17, whilst Sachin (not THE Sachin) made 12.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Clearlake finished with 78, losing but very happy with their road trip to particpate in their first tournament, and their first American College Cricket Championship !</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The University of Houston Clearlake Cricket Club had now joined the American College Cricket family, so on this weekend they had acomplished a lot. They were already speaking of the potential of getting their own cricket fields at school, and looking forward to the 2012 American College Cricket Spring Break Championship in March.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Sunday Texas Tech vs Texas A &amp; M then University of Houston Cougars vs West Texas A &amp; M to determine the finalists !</div>
