<div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Each of the nearly 50 College Clubs that are members of American College Cricket has a President, as well as other executives such as a Secretary and Treasurer, sometimes a Vice-President.</span></div>
<div> </div>
<div>Without the Club President and Executive (or E-Board) there would be no teams to play Championships, no College Players of the Year !</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Students take on these responsibilites for various reasons, and benefit by gaining valuable leadership, people and organising skills that will help them tremendously in their future careers and lives &#8211; and their work benefits us all, and the sport that has given us so much -cricket.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The work required to get your teams to Florida for the Spring Break Championship is tremendous and<strong><em> ALL the Club Presidents and E-Board deserve recognition for their hard work.</em></strong> We are highlighting some of the best of 2011.</div>
</div>
<div> </div>
<div> </div>
<div>In early 2009 when I was trying to pull together teams to play in the first ever college nationals, I was in contact with some cricket players at Rutgers who loved the idea of particpating, however for unclear reasons were prevented from playing.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The Rutgers Cricket Club did enter the 2010 American College Cricket Spring Break Championship, and Hardik Jogani became the President of the Club that March.  Hardik began to work closely with American College Cricket to raise the profile of Rutgers Cricket. -and Hardik himself was honored with a feature on the Home Page of the Rutgers University website.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>With the talented Nisarg Choksi as Captain, Rutgers won the first Northeast regional and caught the attention of nearby TV Asia (which has its HQ in Edison ,NJ). TV Asia then did a piece on the Club as they practised for the 2011 American College Cricket Spring Break Championship.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Having looked around the cricket scene in America, TV Asia management had seen American College Cricket as a movement that they wanted to be involved with. The interaction with Jogani,Choksi and the Rutgers players confirmed TV Asia&#8217;s positive view of American College Cricket and they reached out to Lloyd Jodah, American College Cricket President &#8211; a communication facilitated by Hardik.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>TV Asia is now the Exclusive Media Partner of American College Cricket. The two organisations recently televised the first ever domestic cricket in USA &amp; Canada and are set to do over 100 matches in the next 5 years.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>In addition American College Cricket news, such as the Rankings, College Cricket Players of the Year will be reported on an on going basis by TV Asia. Other projects are also in the works.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Largely because of Hardik Jogani&#8217;s leadership, Rutgers will forever be the first domestic team (along with NYU-Polytechnic), college or otherwise, to play a cricket match in the USA &amp; Canada on TV ! </div>

<div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Saturday Oct 29,in the annals of world cricket will be looked back on as one of the most important days &#8211; Rutgers University played NYU-Polytechnic on TV in USA and Canada.</span></div>
<div> </div>
<div>And what a game it was ! Coming down to the last over, the last ball !</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Rutgers, trying to get 119 to win, had stuttered to 76 for 6 off 15 and their cause looked lost, with only 3 overs left in the 18 overs match. But Asad Ghous attacked the NYU-Poly bowlers for 2 fours and 3 sixes, before being run out, to make it 11 runs need in the last over !</div>
<div> </div>
<div>NYU-Poltechnic&#8217;s Adrian Gordon took the ball to bowl the final over. Gordon is one of the fastest bowlers in the USA.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>First ball Gordon was struck for 6 by Taha Khan to make in 5 runs needed in 5 balls. A run later and it was 4 runs needed in 2 balls to win !</div>
<div> </div>
<div>But then Gordon struck ! getting the next 2 Rutgers batsmen caught out on successive deliveries, he had won the game for NYU-Polytechnic !</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Batting first Rutgers had lost 2 early wicketes before Vinti Kelkar,32 (2 fours,3 sixes) and Adrian Gordon,25 (2 fours 1 six) to them to 69 before Kelkar went in the 9th over. Divyesh Gandhi striking for Rutgers getting both Kelkar aand Gordon.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>NYU-Poly managed to get to 118 off 18 overs helped by Somesh Batra&#8217;s 26 (1 six,1 four). Divyesh Gandhi and Nisarg Choksi, Rutgers Captain, took 2 wickets each.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Rutgers lost 2 early wickets but and were struggling at 76 for 6 after 15 overs, with Haider Ali scoring18.   </div>
<div> </div>
<div>So to celebrate its 3rd anniversary American College Cricket made a quantum leap for cricket in America by partnering with TV Asia for the momentous TV event.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>TV Asia&#8217;s viewers are part of the most affluent and highly educated demographic in the United States, and American College Cricket is the ideal television product for companies wishing to market to that audience. From BMW to Universities, major American and Canadian companies now have a new way to reach a key market. </div>
<div> </div>
<div>There were many logistical hurdles which were met by the Riverview Studios crew and TV Asia. The camera crew was filming cricket for the first time, and will get better with each game. Founder of American College Cricket Lloyd Jodah provided commentary.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Behind the scenes a quiet Hugh Pitter ensured the way was paved for the historic event on his home field, Spring Creek Cricket field aka Gateway, in Brooklyn. CricketzoneUSA made the TV Asia Trophy.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Having set the bar high, by being the first to webcast cricket in America back in March 20, American College Cricket has now taken the game to a whole new level in the USA and Canada.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Next Week : 7 pm on TV Asia : NJ Institute of Technology vs Ryerson University (of Toronto)</div>

<p align="center"><strong>RUTGERS, TATA INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCE LAUNCH</strong></p>
<p align="center"><strong>INDIA CENTER FOR SUSTAINABLE GROWTH AND TALENT DEVELOPMENT</strong></p>
<p align="center">Rutgers University Press Release</p>
<p align="center">            NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – If strength truly lies in numbers, then India, with a population that includes more than 550 million citizens under 25, has the potential to develop one of the world’s great workforces.</p>
<p>            At present, however, only a small percentage of those young people are gaining access to higher-level skills. A new joint initiative of Rutgers and the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) in Mumbai, the India Center for Sustainable Growth and Talent, will seek to correct that shortcoming.</p>
<p>            “Talent has been the key to India’s emergence as a rapidly developing economic power since it liberalized its economy in 1991,” said David Finegold, Rutgers’ senior vice president for Lifelong Learning and Strategic Growth. “The country’s large supply of well-educated, English-speaking graduates has helped attract investment from corporations around the world in its IT and business services.</p>
<p>            “But for India is to capture the benefits of its ‘demographic dividend,’ the largest single workforce for the global economy of the 21st century, India must urgently reform all stages of its education and training system.”</p>
<p>            The new joint center will provide expert support for India’s National Skill Development Strategy and the cooperative 21st Century Knowledge Initiative launched earlier this year by President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Its three core parts are:</p>
<ul>
<li>Applied research through the India Talent Observatory, including the influential annual survey of Indian graduates studying abroad that was jointly developed by Finegold (then dean of Rutgers’ School of Management and Labor Relations) and Professor B. Venkatesh Kumar of TISS in Mumbai.</li>
<li>Cooperative education and training programs, including student exchange, development of dual-degree programs and short courses for continuing and executive education</li>
<li>Capacity building to enhance the governance and capabilities of India’s education and training institutions through research fellowships for new and prospective Indian faculty, administrators and higher education policymakers.           </li>
</ul>
<p>            The annual survey of Indian graduate students studying abroad was the institutions’ first joint project. The research covered nearly 1,000 Indians who are either pursuing or have completed graduate study in the United States and found that only 8 percent strongly prefer to remain in this country.</p>
<p> At the time, Finegold called the findings “surprising and encouraging” for Indian universities. “We expected that more students would lean heavily toward remaining in the U.S., but our results suggest many young academics would be interested in pursuing a faculty career in India if policymakers can address some of the key issues facing the Indian higher education system.”</p>
<p>            Finegold added that India needs to recruit at least 1 million new faculty members for its colleges and universities if it is to meet the government’s goal of making higher education available to 20 percent of young people by 2020. The partners’ second version of the survey – to study Indians being educated in the United Kingdom and Australia and to also compare them with Chinese who have come to study in the U.S. – will be carried out in November.</p>
<p>            Both Rutgers and the Tata Institute have contributed funding toward the initiative and will seek additional monies through the Obama-Singh Knowledge Initiative. Private sources of funding also are being sought, Finegold said.</p>
<p>In another momentous event, Rutgers University plays vs NYU-Polytechnic in the first ever televised American College Cricket match this Saturday at 7 pm on TV Asia -available on major cable systems in the USA &amp; Canada &amp; Dish Network. </p>
