<div>Harvard Cricket Club&#8217;s performance is particularly noteworthy as its one of the colleges that cricket was played at in the late 1700s and early 1800s. It established an official club in 1862 and played until the 1920s. Motivated by American College Cricket Ibrahim Khan restarted the club in 2011, and now its set to play on TV challenging for the Deryck Jodah Trophy !</div>

<div>Last year the North East Championship became the first ever cricket to be televised in USA &amp; Canada as American College Cricket once more, this time with TV Asia, raised the bar for the game. </div>
<div> </div>
<div>Rutgers and NYU-Polytechnic played the first televised domestic cricket match ever in USA &amp; Canada.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>In March 2010 we did the first webstream, and we&#8217;re happy to see others follow since.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>For the 2012 North East Championship, sponsored by Coca Cola, TV Asia will televise the Semis &amp; Finals of Oct 14, as well as 2 matches from Oct 13. There will also be a roving camera on the other days. Below are the teams.</div>
<div> </p>
<div>Here also are the designs for teams getting new uniforms, - no team can play unless in proper uniform (you will be on TV). The other teams will be wearing their uniforms from the American College Cricket Spring Break Championship.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>
<div>Each team must also complete their “Likes” to qualify to play:</div>
<div> <a href="https://www.facebook.com/CollegeCricket">https://www.facebook.com/CollegeCricket</a></div>
<div> </div>
<div>Reminder : we don’t play invisible cricket, &amp; you can’t just show up to play, you must promote what we do - without a strong national organization, your club is a single voice in the wind. Start earning your BONUS POINTS now by promoting AmericanCollegeCricket.com articles on Facebook, Twitter &amp; other Social Media.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>I understand some schools just resumed this week, but please complete what you have to do ASAP, or you don&#8217;t play. ALL players must &#8220;Like&#8221; our FB Fanpage.</div>
<div> </div>
</div>
<div>Assuming the International &#8220;Special Guest&#8221; team comes, 4 of our best college teams will be selected to play against the Special Guest team. Two matches will be on Sunday Oct 7, and 2 on Saturday Oct 13 (filmed by TV Asia). These 2 matches may also be shown Internationally.</div>

<dd class="wp-caption-dd">Gordon batting at the groundbreaking 2011 North East Championship- the first televised cricket in the USA &amp; Canada</dd>
</dl>
<p>American College Cricket player all rounder Adrian Gordon is having a great time since he graduated from NYU-Polytechnic in Brooklyn with his degree. </p>
<div>First the fiery fast bowler went to Antigua to play cricket, then spent summer playing for Skegness in the Lincolnshire League in England. He even practiced with the West Indies team early in the summer.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Now Adrian has signed to play for Hannans Cricket Club in Australia, from October 2012 to April 1st 2013. Adrian will spend 2 weeks in the US after his season in England, before going off to Western Australia - assuming his visa is approved. </div>
<div> </div>
<div>American College Cricket President Lloyd Jodah said, <em>&#8220;American College Cricket has created a new path for cricket players - the opportunity to play competitive high profile cricket whilst getting your education. And, as in the case of Adrian, opening up opportunites for young players to pursue your dreams of playing cricket as a career,knowing you have your education for when your playing days are over.&#8221;</em></div>
<div> </div>
<div>Last year Gordon spent a week with the Indian Premiere League&#8217;s Rajasthan Royals and impressed. Gordon founded the NYU-Polytechnic Cricket club back in 2010, together with Lloyd, and has the highest score in college cricket, 145*.  </div>
<div> </div>
<div>This past week Adrian practiced with the England and South African Test teams at Lords&#8217; Cricket Ground.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>It&#8217;s particularly pleasing to us to have cricket return its hallowed home, after the blasphemy of having Archery at Lords, instead of cricket in the Olympics.<a href="http://americancollegecricket.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Adr41.jpg"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-9954" title="Adr41" src="http://americancollegecricket.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Adr41-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></div>

<div>After graduating from NYU-Polytechnic University Adrian went to Antigua to play cricket, prior to going to England to play with Skegness Cricket Club in the Lincolnshire County Premier League. &#8220;I appeciate Mr. Lloyd&#8217;s guidance with this,&#8221; Adrian said</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Gordon has helped his team Skegness CC, playing in the Lincolnshire County Board Premier League, to be at the top of the Standings &#8211; Skegness CC was second to last in 2011. Here&#8217;s a piece of what the local media said about Gordon :</div>
<div> </div>
<div>&#8220;<em>And the celebratory drinks will be well deserved as far as America international Adrian Gordon is concerned after he battled against the odds to see his team over the line.</em></div>
<div><em> </em></div>
<div><em>He steered the seasiders into a match winning position with his partnership of 74 with Jamie Epton (41), but then wickets began to fall at the other end.Faced with the prospect of all his hard work going to waste, Gordon took charge to single-handedly finish off the job.</em></div>
<div><em> </em></div>
<div><em>It was nail-biting stuff. Indeed there were reports of the club chairman hiding behind the sofa as wickets tumbled. But Gordon kept his cool.</em></div>
<div><em> </em></div>
<div><em>His innings of 78 not out included some majestic shots, taking on one of the quickest bowlers in the county, Colin Cheer. But it was much more about the intelligent way he crafted his innings.</em></div>
<div> </div>
<div><em>Injury has prevented him opening the bowling for the last few weeks, but he is hopeful that he will return to full fitness this weekend.</em><a href="http://americancollegecricket.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Adriancar.jpg"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-9468" title="Adriancar" src="http://americancollegecricket.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Adriancar-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a>&#8220;      </div>
<div>                                   PHOTO : Adrian with his car</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Adrian said, &#8221; I go to the gym everyday then practice at the Club in the afternoon &#8211; they have 2 full nets, bowling machine etc&#8230;..and on Thursdays we have team practice. We play on Saturdays and Sundays with the occasional weekday game. Except for the side strain, which has prevented me from bowling the past 3 weeks, everything is great.&#8221;</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Adrian has taken 11 wickets at an average of 12.82 runs, plus a 5 wicket haul in a practice game. Batting he has scored 268 runs at 33.6 average, including scores of 78*, 50, 45 &amp; 34.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Gordon is a founder (with American College Cricket President Lloyd ) of the NU-Polytechnic Cricket Club, and its former captain. A 2010 American College Cricket Player of the Year, and a 2011 Championship co-MVP, who spent 2 weeks with the Rajasthan Royals team in the 2011 IPL.</div>

<div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">After catching the eye of American College Cricket President Lloyd Jodah at a practice game, Adrian Gordon worked with Lloyd to start a cricket club at NYU- Polytechnic University, to play in the 2010 American College Cricket Spring Break Championship.</span></div>
<div> </div>
<div>Then in the first Northeast regional Gordon led NYU-Poly to the Finals, then travelled to Washington DC to assist in staging the Mid Atlantic Championship.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>His leadership and commitment to American College Cricket earned him selection as 1 of 5 College Cricket Players of 2010, as well as College All-American selections, in 2010 and 2011.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Gordon then played for the USA in Italy in the World Cricket League Division 4. <strong>Gordon took 3 for 21</strong> against Tanzania, <strong>3 for 25</strong> against Argentina and wrapped up the tournament by destroying the batting of Italy, taking <strong>4 wickets for 35</strong>. Italy had beaten the USA ,earlier in the tournament in a game which Gordon did not play. This effort helped USA climb to Division 3 (it later was relegated to Div 4 in the next tournament when Gordon was not selected).</div>
<div> </div>
<div>
<div>March 2012 saw Gordon lead NYU-Poly again in the national Championship, where he smashed a record breaking 145*. No surprise he was named a Championship MVP.</div>
</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Since graduating in 2011 with a degree in Biomolecular Science Gordon, with Jodah, has been considering a number of options, including one in Australia.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Adrian explained, &#8220;Mr Lloyd and I have been looking at different opportunities and the offer by Skegness Cricket Club to play in the Lincolnshire County Board Premier Cricket League is a good one. It would be during the summer months, from April to September - I can still pursue my Master&#8217;s, but for nearly half the year I&#8217;ll play the game I love !&#8221;</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The contract was arranged through CricX.com, a Cricket Exchange Agency, and does not prevent Adrian from playing International cricket, &#8220;I appreciate playing for USA and wanted to remain available to play, if selected.&#8221;</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Adrian said, &#8220;I&#8217;ll be going to England in April, so I&#8217;ll be able to play in the March American College Cricket Spring Break Championship as one of the two alums allowed ! &#8220;</div>

<div>
<div>The two teams faced off on TV Asia on Sat Nov 12, in the Finals of the American College Cricket Northeast Championship, and an opportunity to zoom up the rankings, maybe even to number 1 !  </div>
<div> </div>
</div>
<div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Ryerson University&#8217;s pace attack is 5 deep, and tall -  Warren Rajroop is 6&#8217;5&#8242;, Rayan Pathan 6&#8217;4&#8242;, Siufian Chaudhary 6&#8217;2&#8242;, Azad Zaidi,6&#8242;  with Harsh Desai -bouncers come easy ! </span> </div>
<div> </div>
<div>NYU-Polytechnic atttack boast America&#8217;s fastest, Adrian Gordon but it was clear that Ryerson held the advantage in the bowling dept.  </div>
<p> Batting first the NYU-Polytechnic batsmen relied on extras to move the score along, and at the end of the Power Play they had just 17 runs for 2 wickets.  </p>
<div>However hard hitting strokeplayer Adrian Gordon had just come to the wicket, and he delighted with some glorious cuts and hooks, getting 4 twos on the slow outfield, before stroking 3 fours. </div>
<div> </div>
<div>In March Gordon smashed 145* in the national championship, so the Ryerson team had to be getting worried when Gordon came back too casually for aa 2nd run, and was run out ! </div>
<div> </div>
<div>Gordon was out at 56, and only Somesh Batra, 12 reached double figures as the NYU-Poly team crumbled. </div>
<div> </div>
<div>Once again Harsh Desai took crucial wickets, 2 for 17 off 3 overs. Hasan Mirza, the Ryerson captain, 2 for 15 in 3 overs and Azad Zaidi 3 for 6 in 1.3 overs.  </div>
<div> </div>
<div>Hasan Zaidi then opened the batting with Farhan Khan,10 and played a solid innings before opening up,striking 2 sixes and 1 four in 30*. Coming at 3, Rahat smashed 4 sixes in his 33* as the two put on an unbeaten partnership of 68 runs to win the game and the title for Ryerson ! </div>
<div> </div>
<div>A mistake was made in declaring Azad Zaidi the MVP, as it was his brother, Hasan who made 30*. The MVP was Harsh Desai, who once again took crucial wickets to swing the game Ryerson&#8217;s way.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Ryerson won in such a convincing manner that they have immediately vaulted themselves to be among the favorites to win the Chanderpaul Trophy at next March&#8217;s American College Cricket Spring Break Championship. </div>
<div> </div>
<div>Play by play commentary for the game was done by Lloyd Jodah, and filming by Riverview Studios headed by Jim Parker, for TV Asia. </div>

<p><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The groundbreaking televising of cricket in USA &amp; Canada continues this Saturday Nov 12, at 7 pm on TV Asia, with the Finals of the American College Cricket Northeast Championship !</span> </p>
<p>Frrom 10 teams we have the Final two : NYU &#8211; Polytechnic featuring America&#8217;s fastest bowler, Adrian Gordon, vs Toronto&#8217;s Ryerson University, featuring 4 pacers ! </p>
<p>Gordon has made possibly the highest score in a 20/20 game in America &#8211; he scored 145* at last March&#8217;s national Championship, whilst Chintan Modi looked in great form in the semis vs Rutgers.</p>
<p>However Ryerson has 4 pacers over 6 feet tall, including Warren Rajroop at 6&#8217;5&#8242; and Rayan Pathan at 6&#8217;4&#8242; ,capable of generating great bounce. Then there is the effective medium pacer Harsh Desai.</p>

At the Central Broward Regional Park, the American College Cricket Southeast Championship begins Sat with Auburn University defending its SE title. Last year the newly formed University of Florida Gators team put up a strong fight in the Finals, spearheaded by a magnificent innings by Ricky Nayar.</p>
<p>But the Auburn Tigers led by Naveen Thiagarajan and Rahul Potghan,has played as one of the most tightly knit teams in college cricket and were crowned the SE Champs.</p>
<p>The Gators Cricket Club have also gone on to start an Alumni Network to support their cricket club. They have won 9 of 11 &#8220;practice games&#8221; played this semester in preparation for the regionals said Vijay Pappu.</p>
<p>The University of South Florida (USF) Bulls under Sri Harsh Boddepalli, have been consistently strong since they were started for the first National Championship (2009 ). They were in a Finalist in 2009, a Final Four in 2010, &amp; played undefeated in 2011, narrowly missing the final four on points.</p>
<p>Florida Atlantic University (FAU) led by Ranjit feel they are ready to become the top team in the Southeast.However USF&#8217;s Nagesh Nayak says, &#8220;Even the Indian team doesn&#8217;t practice as much as USF does.&#8221;</p>

<div><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Saturday Oct 29,in the annals of world cricket will be looked back on as one of the most important days &#8211; Rutgers University played NYU-Polytechnic on TV in USA and Canada.</span></div>
<div> </div>
<div>And what a game it was ! Coming down to the last over, the last ball !</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Rutgers, trying to get 119 to win, had stuttered to 76 for 6 off 15 and their cause looked lost, with only 3 overs left in the 18 overs match. But Asad Ghous attacked the NYU-Poly bowlers for 2 fours and 3 sixes, before being run out, to make it 11 runs need in the last over !</div>
<div> </div>
<div>NYU-Poltechnic&#8217;s Adrian Gordon took the ball to bowl the final over. Gordon is one of the fastest bowlers in the USA.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>First ball Gordon was struck for 6 by Taha Khan to make in 5 runs needed in 5 balls. A run later and it was 4 runs needed in 2 balls to win !</div>
<div> </div>
<div>But then Gordon struck ! getting the next 2 Rutgers batsmen caught out on successive deliveries, he had won the game for NYU-Polytechnic !</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Batting first Rutgers had lost 2 early wicketes before Vinti Kelkar,32 (2 fours,3 sixes) and Adrian Gordon,25 (2 fours 1 six) to them to 69 before Kelkar went in the 9th over. Divyesh Gandhi striking for Rutgers getting both Kelkar aand Gordon.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>NYU-Poly managed to get to 118 off 18 overs helped by Somesh Batra&#8217;s 26 (1 six,1 four). Divyesh Gandhi and Nisarg Choksi, Rutgers Captain, took 2 wickets each.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Rutgers lost 2 early wickets but and were struggling at 76 for 6 after 15 overs, with Haider Ali scoring18.   </div>
<div> </div>
<div>So to celebrate its 3rd anniversary American College Cricket made a quantum leap for cricket in America by partnering with TV Asia for the momentous TV event.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>TV Asia&#8217;s viewers are part of the most affluent and highly educated demographic in the United States, and American College Cricket is the ideal television product for companies wishing to market to that audience. From BMW to Universities, major American and Canadian companies now have a new way to reach a key market. </div>
<div> </div>
<div>There were many logistical hurdles which were met by the Riverview Studios crew and TV Asia. The camera crew was filming cricket for the first time, and will get better with each game. Founder of American College Cricket Lloyd Jodah provided commentary.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Behind the scenes a quiet Hugh Pitter ensured the way was paved for the historic event on his home field, Spring Creek Cricket field aka Gateway, in Brooklyn. CricketzoneUSA made the TV Asia Trophy.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Having set the bar high, by being the first to webcast cricket in America back in March 20, American College Cricket has now taken the game to a whole new level in the USA and Canada.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Next Week : 7 pm on TV Asia : NJ Institute of Technology vs Ryerson University (of Toronto)</div>
