Switzerland, Hong Kong, China, USA now England for Hardik (Syracuse)!

Hardik Mhatre is a sophomore at Syracuse University, studying Information Management and Technology with a minor in Sports and Data Analytics. He will be our Left arm fast bowler on our England Tour. Our most recent left arm pacer Saurabh Netravalkar Cornell is busy taking the USA Cricket places.

Though born in Mumbai Hardik Mhatre learned his cricket in unusual places. At the age of 5 months his family moved to Switzerland. After living in Switzerland for 8 years, they moved to Hong Kong. Then his family relocated to Shanghai until he was 14, where he also continued to play at Shanghai Cricket Club. Now when not in Syracuse he resides in New Jersey where he plays for Atlantic Cricket Club and Indoor Cricket Club. A a result of his travels, Hardik speaks Chinese, Marathi, German and New Jersey.

At the age of 8, Hardik Mhatre started playing cricket in Hong Kong, at Kowloon Cricket Club, where he learned the basics, and played for Hong Kong U15 at the age of 10. This gave him the opportunity to net alongside the Hong Kong National Cricket team and was able to learn from their experience.  Hardik also led his school cricket team to finals for the first time. When he moved to Shanghai, Hardik continued playing cricket at Shanghai Rugby Cricket Club – where he participated in 50 over matches.

The Mhatre family moved to US in 2014, since then, he has been playing in local tournaments over the summer and getting coached by Coach Lalta Persaud, a long time youth Coach, and owner of an Indoor facility in NJ.  Hardik made the USA u19 team shortlist of 30 in Houston, Texas, that was coached by Amir Saddique. When the Sachin and Warne All Stars tour happened Hardik was fortunate to meet some stars, and more recently he interacted with the Indian team in Florida which resulted in him snagging our Top pic on our Instagram for 2019, with Hardik Pandya.

Hardik is extremely excited to represent the American College Cricket in England this summer.“You don’t get a lot of opportunities in USA for top level cricket, but when you do, you have to seize them and make the best out of them. The England Tour is going to be amazing, filled with excitement and lots of areas to learn and gain good experience from International Level Grounds in England and from First-Class teams.  Representing USA is my dream, and being able to represent American College Cricket internationally is an amazing opportunity for me!”

In addition to playing, Hardik will be assisting with the behind the scenes filming of the England Tour, for later braodcasting as a Documentary movie.
