March 2010 – 1st Ever Cricket Stream in USA – Video !

From the beginning the strategy for American College Cricket was to make it broadcast ready, and so for the 2nd National Championship in March 2010, American College Cricket streamed 3 matches – the 2 Semis & Final ! The teams that played that day were USF & York University (Toronto) and UMBC & York College (NYC).

Thousands saw the stream through viewing parties on college campuses & abroad, and at Toronto’s Square One Mall, the matches were shown on their Jumbo TVs as that was York University’s hometown.

Lloyd Jodah, American College Cricket President conducted a streaming trial in July 2009, and then was told about UStream which offered free streaming, by NYPD Officer Jeff Thompson who had started running the NYPD Youth Cricket league. There was a lot of improvising, equipment was rented, Home Depot scaffolding was put up, students were hired to man the equipment ! In this video you can see 5 minutes of that historic stream. The commentators are 2 New Yorkers, Lenny Achaibar & Carl Bennett, 2 devoted servants of the game !
