The following was taken from the GoFundMe writeup on Kumar:
In the early hours of 14th May 2017, our dearest friend Sai Kumar Adluru met with a fatal accident for no fault of his. He was a student of Masters in Electrical engineering at Northern Illinois University and due for graduation in December 2017.

Sai’s dream and aspirations along with his family’s ended with that car crash. He was an energetic cricketer representing our university in the Mid West & National Championship and helped us win games with his brilliance on the field. He was a compassionate human being who never thought twice before lending his hand to help. He was a brother everyone wished they had,all that and more.

Sai and a friend were involved an accident near the university earlier this morning (Mothers Day, May 14) and the other vehicle involved was the one at fault. Sai was not lucky enough to make it. The other person in his car is currently undergoing treatment in a trauma center in Rockford.

This tragic loss has put his family, friends and all his loved ones into a state of shock which we are still unable to completely comprehend.

There were costs involved for transportation, which included airlift. Sai’s family wants him to rest in the land he was born. There will be costs involved for transportation of the body and the airlift which was offered to transport them to the nearest facility. We will need these funds to send Sai back home. We are limited with our ability to contribute as we are still students with no constant source of income. We have raised a bit, but afraid that its not enough. The sooner we reach our goal, only then we can expedite this process.

The Indian Students Association will be responsible for handling the funds collected through this portal. All the funds will be used for the funeral, transportation, medical expenses and anything his family would require. The collected funds will be completely documented and shared to all the donors. Any donation is greatly appreciated.
