2015 National Champion : U of Texas Dallas with Tuva, Anja & Lloyd.

The 2016 American College Cricket National Championship will be played March 16 to March 20, 2016. Twenty four college teams will compete at the Central Broward Regional Park and nearby fields in 5 days of intense cricket action & fun to be National Champion and win the Shiv Chanderpaul Trophy. Shiv Chanderpaul has been a Patron of American College Cricket from its inception.

Shiv said,”It’s a pleasure to help the growth of the game – this year we did the Dream11 USA vs Canada Series, and saw the launch of Canadian College Cricket. Next year’s Championship will be as exciting and fun as always, with every team trying to take the American College Cricket National title from University of Texas Dallas.”

The National Championship has been played every year since March 2009. That first Championship was featured in the NY Times, and motivated regular International cricket coverage by the NY times since then. In 2010 American College Cricket did the first web stream in the USA & Canada of domestic cricket, then did the first TV from 2011 with TV Asia. The 2014 National Championship became the first cricket in the USA broadcast by sports giant, ESPN.

To be eligible to play in the National Championship, a college in USA & Canada must be a member of American College Cricket, and have played in a 2015 Regional Championship and a minimum of 3 American College Cricket 2015 Home & Away matches ( NO exceptions other than the Wild Card teams ). If your team plays outside of American College Cricket & allows non-students to play, it can NOT participate. In sports in the USA, colleges ONLY play vs other colleges, cricket can not continue to ignore the American sports landscape and expect to grow and become mainstream.

Teams may be drawn from Undergrads, Masters & Phd students and up to 2 alumni in the Playing XI (where your college rules allow). From now, there is a maximum of 2 years of eligibility as an alumni.

Members of our clubs must also be actively engaged in promoting American College Cricket in social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat etc, as broadcasters & sponsors will only invest if we are growing the audience for the game. Cricket can not be played only for cricketers.

As in all American College Cricket events, matches will be 20/20, finish in 3 hours and played with white balls and colored uniforms. The best players will be selected to represent the USA in the annual Series USA vs Canada, to be played every Memorial day Weekend in Toronto. In 2015 Canada won the Dream11 Series.

UNIFORMS : the uniforms for the Dream11 USA Team were specially designed by Anja Catrine, and so will uniforms for the new season. More info later.  SCORING : All team must have at least 3 people able to use Crichq well.

Participants in the American College Cricket National Championship since 2009, have usually described it as “the best Spring Break” they’ve ever had, and the camraderie, memories, photos & videos remain with you for the rest of your lives.
