SmartChoiceMoosaS1The Smart Choice Moosa Stadium was set to be the host of the American College Cricket South West Championship recently, but because of rain this has been rescheduled (probably to February 2015).

The immediate great news is one of the Houston-area colleges is getting a dream Christmas gift ! An American College Cricket member club will be chosen to have the Stadium as its Home field ! American College Cricket Founder & President Lloyd Jodah, and Smart Choice CEO Sakhi Muhammad announced the exciting news today !

Currently the University of Houston Clearlake Hawks, and the University of Houston Cougars are the 2 American College Cricket members in the immediate vicinity.

Lloyd said, “Our goal is to get fields on as many campuses as possible – an excellent way to increase the game’s visibility among college students, and we are now playing on campus in about 13 colleges, often under floodlights. We have practice facilities, even indoor, in many more. However to play in such a top-class facility as Smart Choice Moosa Stadium is a fantastic opportunity which we greatly appreciate, and will make full use of.”

The Stadium’s TURF wicket and outfield is complete, and ready for play. There are practice wickets too. Stands, Dressing rooms, picnic areas are all being built. The Stadium is being built to the specifications needed for International Cricket Council certification as a venue for international cricket. The American College Cricket club having the Smart Choice Moosa Stadium as its Home field will have the full use of the facilities for practice, and to host Home matches vs other colleges.

Amir Saddiqui will be the on-site Coach. International Curator Sam Plumber, who built the Stadium’s pitches, will continue his excellent work preparing pitches to make any cricketer happy. Additionally 3 more turf wicket fields are being built next door and may be ready by mid 2015. The Stadium was named to honor Sakhi Muhammad’s father.
