Anja Catrine from Norway to NYC – A College Student’s Life in the Big Apple !

Anja2 summers ago we publish the blog of Alyna, a college student from Vancouver, spending time in NYC. This Fall its Anja Catrine of Norway – providing us her thoughts on fitness, fashion & generally a different perspective. Anja will also be our Interviewer for our Ivy League, & possibly some Regional Championships.

My name is Anja Catrine. Blond. Getting double chin when I laugh. I’m generally pretty bad in driving and running 60 meters. But I play soccerI was an active gymnast at one time, and I love to be on stage. But in recent years there has not been much time for that …

Most people call me Anya. Some (two of my friends) says AC. There are few who says Anja Catrine, although I like it, and there’s only one person who calls me Catrine. I’m 19 years old, although I feel like a 16 year old and probably thinking that 50 year old philosopher.  (At times I certainly acting like a 6 year old too)

Blogging has been something I’ve been wanting a long time. Because I like to take pictures. And because I like to write. I like to express myself. (Instagram has probably been my mini-blog for a while. Pity my friends) .

I packed my things and moved to New York to study Fashion Management and Entrepreneurship with Gateway. And I actually use the opportunity to blog. Both for my own interest and to keep everyone at home updated. But perhaps the most to take care of all the memories. And perhaps to share any thoughts and opinions that abound in my head … like that once in a while.

“You are the books you read, the films you watch, the music you listen to, the people you meet,

the dreams you have, the conversations you engage in. You are what you take from this.

You are the sound of the ocean, the breath of fresh air, the brightest light and the darkest corner. You are a colletive of every experience you have had in your life.  You are every single day.

So drown yourself in a sea of knowledge and existence.

Let the words run through your veins and let the colors fill your mind. ”

Oh, what a night it was ! After trips to Applebee’s and Target and a bit of waiting we got into the Barclays Center (in Brooklyn) and we had to find our seats. To be honest, I really thought that we had such good seats. We booked very late and did not pay that much either that there would be so many famous artists had to. But damn so happy we were !! We saw everything.

The funny thing was that not only were many well-known on stage, but also in the audience. But the best was perhaps when JUSTIN BIEBER suddenly came out on stage.  Got unfortunately not a good picture of it (was perhaps too busy to enjoy the view. So now we have seen Jennifer Lopez shake ass, Naomi Campbell forgetting a sentence, both Pitbull and Enrique Iglesias dancing and playing guitarist of KISS crushing guitar her and Justin Bieber undress to only boxer. HO!
What greeted us when we arrived at the Finale club was a whole bunch of people. The queue was so long. .The promoter came out and brought us pulled us past the whole line. “What’s up with those girls?”  , someone shouted behind us. Haha, oh my god, can you believe we felt like celebrities or? To put it this way: it’s the perks of being norwegian. Without being checked, we were stamped and we got to go inside.AnjaPopcorn1
The venue was packed with balloons, decorations and people, and the DJ bellowed that David Guetta was in the house and was playing his songs. Eventually Swizz Beatz even up to the DJ, gave a speech and performed.
Although these venues are incredibly noisy, completely full of people and it is not possible to get the communication to go through nothing but body language and roaring, it was truly an experience. And even though I’m tired today, I am glad that we went.
