Raghu Kumar & Lloyd Jodah in the ‘Interactive corner’ at Hit Wicket
From the first time he heard about the Hit Wicket – Sports/Food/Bar, in Cambridge, MA, American College Cricket President Lloyd Jodah has been a fan, and this past Saturday, he visited & met with the owner Shubha Ramesh Kumar’s husband – Raghu who is a cricketer & sports enthusiast.
“The place is cricket-themed in the manner that the Hard Rock Cafe is music-themed, or Planet Hollywood was movies-themed.” Jodah described. “But its also a hands-on place for cricket fans to teach their friends about the game. Apart from the matches on TV, there’s an “Interactive corner” where cricket bats, balls stumps, pad & gear are displayed so visitors can pick them up, learn about them and so on.

Whilst there,it was exciting to see different patrons who know about cricket walk their American friends over to the “demo corner” & explain what was there. The interactive area will fascinate kids, as the staff is trained to demonstrate the gear.
The food is an eclectic mix of dishes from cricket-playing countries, such as Bangers & Mash, Aussie Meat Pie, curry and even the Menu is presented with a cricket theme : Appetizers are in the 20/20 section, whilst Light Entres are in the ODI & Entrees in the Test sections ! The Menu is displayed on minibats !
Jodah had the Aussie Meat Pie, “I’m an expert eater, kind of like the Rohan Kanhai of eaters, & I’ve eaten meat pies at a few different pubs & restaurants, the Hit Wicket’s pie was perfect to me. Be sure to try the 3 sauces, 511,711 & the hottest 911, they were great – a unique touch !”
But clearly Raghu is not just an investor in his wife’s restaurant, but a man who loves cricket, and wants others to learn, & know the game. He discussed ways to connect the curious with cricket, even beyond the sports bar.

The partners are 2 couples and as the website says “Restauranteurs Shubha & Nada Heredia feature a unique blend of home cooked recipes and popular street food (their husbands – Raghu & Paul added a generous dash of sports frenzy).”
Jodah & Raghu discussed a range of subjects and agreed that American College Cricket and Hit Wicket will partner in promoting cricket; accordingly, Hit Wicket will show American College Cricket matches televised by TV Asia, beginning this October.
